Guide for patients with anterior cruciate knee ligament rupture
Guide for patients with rupture of the ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) of the knee, focused on recovery after injury and subsequent surgical intervention.
It contains more than 100 specific rehabilitation exercises after an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament, as well as explanatory guides of the fundamental ideas that a patient should know about this type of injury.
The anterior cruciate ligament is the most important ligament in our knee.
Today, the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament, unfortunately is a fairly common injury in sports and recreational activity.
The application consists of 3 fundamental sections:
1. Start: with basic information for patients about the pathology, symptoms, complementary tests and surgery of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee.
2. Rehabilitation: depending on the date of the injury and surgery, the exercises that should be performed in each stage are explained very illustratively. These exercises have been done in animated format (gif), so that it is easier for patients to repeat. All these exercises, also serve for recovery after any knee injury.
3. Prevention: several exercise protocols are exposed to prevent anterior cruciate ligament injuries, in which, following a series of exercises in training and warm-ups, it is scientifically proven that the incidence of this type of injuries decreases.
This application has been developed by Dr. Alberto Sánchez (MD, PhD), specialist in Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery, Arthroscopy Unit, Hospital de Galdakao, Vizcaya (Spain).
These protocols have been reviewed by the members of the Arthroscopy Unit of the Galdakao Hospital (Dr. Daniel Garay, Dr. Arsenio Diego, Dr. Idoia Gutierrez, Dr. Iban Aransaez and Dr. Carlos Ramirez).
Supervised by Dr. Xabier Foruria (Knee Unit of Galdakao Hospital) and by Dr. Martinez de los Mozos (Chief of Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery Hospital of Galdakao)
With the collaboration of Dr. Enrique Arbaiza (Emergency Service of Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery (Hospital de Galdakao and Hospital San Juan de Dios - Santurce) With the advice of Luis Pemán (personal trainer - UP Arena Gymnasium - Las Arenas, Getxo)
These rehabilitation protocols are a compendium of the guides used by several of the best centers and knee surgeons in the world.
